"Empowering People by Providing a Hand Up"
EMERGENCY FINANCIAL/FOOD OUTREACH PROGRAM
CCHASM receives calls from community residents, Monday-Friday between the hours of
8:30am-2:00pm. Our screening process is very thorough, aiding in discernment of
legitimate needs and core issues as opposed to chronic on-going needs. CCHASM might
assist in such areas as: utilities, rent, medicine and other emergency needs as they are
presented. Funding to meet these needs is obtained from membership contributions.
CCHASM works with many congregational food pantries that provide food to free up cash
to families each month. For more information go to the Financial Food Assistance page.
THANKSGIVING MEAL PACKAGE PROGRAM
Annually, CCHASM coordinates this meal package program to assist those in our
community who might otherwise no have the resources to celebrate this special holiday.
Working in collaboration with schools, businesses, churches and agencies in Chesterfield
and Colonial Heights, we coordinate the volunteers, food and financial resources in order
to meet our annual goal.
EMERGENCY DISASTER RELIEF PROGRAM
This is a proactive program, developed in collaboration with the Chesterfield Department
of Emergency Management to address areas of need in the event of a community disaster
where shelter programs are initiated.
This program identifies volunteers and resources before an emergency, helping to diffuse
the chaos during such a traumatic event. To learn more or to sign up to help in one of the
identified ways, please see our EMERGENCY DISASTER brochure.
FRIENDLY VISITOR PROGRAM
The Friendly Visitor program recruits caring, active volunteers from the community.
Volunteers provide visits to isolated and/or lonely older adults. Through this interaction it
is hoped that a relationship of friendship based on caring, trust and respect will contribute
to enhancing the older person's self worth, dignity and general well being. For more
information visit the Friendly Visitor Page.
W.I.N.G.S -
WINNING INDEPENDENCE THROUGH NURTURING, GUIDANCE AND SUPPORT
There are many families in our community, who hold a vision of what their lives could be.
Unfortunately they don't know where to start to make their vision a reality. Winning
Independence through Nurturing, Guidance and Support (WINGS) is CCHASM's adult
mentoring project. Our WINGS program offers families needing guidance and support an
opportunity to work, within a faith community; to learn, grow, and accomplish long and
short term goals in order to move their families towards financial independence.
CAREER CLOSET
The Career Closet serves the needs of low income women in our community who are
either seeking employment or who might require professional wardrobe pieces for their full
time jobs.
VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES
This program matches volunteers with their abilities and interest. Do you like to cook? You
might consider volunteering to prepare a meal for someone unable to cook due to illness.
Maybe you've been meaning to get some exercise? Perhaps you would like to volunteer to
help a family in need some of lawn care. Service is free to those seeking assistance.
Screening for assistance is require. For more information see our VOLUNTEER
OPPORTUNITIES brochure.
